The highlight of this academic year was the official opening of the Centre on 29th March 2011. Presided over by the Chancellor of the University, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, and Her Highness Princess Ameerah, Chairwoman of the Alwaleed Foundation, this happy occasion brought to Cambridge many distinguished guests and friends of the Centre to share in the celebrations. This was also a special occasion: it was one of the last activities which the Chancellor hosted at Cambridge before retiring from his post. The Speeches of HH Princess Ameerah, the Vice-Chancellor and Professor Yasir Suleiman speech are included in this report. The Vice-Chancellor’s speech deals with benefactions to Cambridge as a whole, but it gives special mention to the Centre and its achievements.
